Wʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀʀᴇ ᴀʟʟ ᴏғ ᴍʏ Pʀᴏᴄʀᴀsᴛɪɴᴀᴛᴏʀs ᴀᴛ? 👀
You know who you are.
✊🏼 You get all pumped about a change you want to make starting tomorrow.
🎯 Summer is on the way and you want to drop some of that Covid weight and start working out so you don’t feel like a fat bastard in trunks. 🩳
🎯 This is the year that you’re going to take a stand and feel valued and respected.
🎯 That’s It! You are at your wits end and you are going to do 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 to make you feel like you’re actually progressing in life.
It’s a plan and you’re going to do it… starting tomorrow.
Procrastination is that little bitch-voice inside your head that tells you you’ll do it when.
😡 When you lose a few pounds, then you’ll feel comfortable enough to join the gym.
😡 When you have the money then you’ll start making moves to get out of that job you hate.
😡 When your partner is in a good mood, you’ll talk to them about how you feel.
Problem with this line of thinking is there is 𝘼𝙇𝙒𝘼𝙔𝙎 another 𝙒𝙃𝙀𝙉.
These are excuses you make to justify the 𝑭𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒆. And if this fear is not eliminated from your life, you will find yourself in the exact same position a year from now and then a year after that.
Eventually, it creates a mindset of You’ll be Happy When…
Know what you’re left with?
I’ve been there. So paralyzed by the 𝑭𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒆 that I would create any excuse in my head as to why my plan wouldn’t work, I completely talked myself out of doing anything.
👎🏼 I’ve done it with my dreams of becoming an actor.
👎🏼 I’ve done it when it comes to achieving a body that gives me confidence.
👎🏼 I’ve done it in making money.
👎🏼 I’ve done it in relationships.
So, where does this paralyzing Fear of Failure come from and what can you do to completely eliminate it from your life?
There are a number of causes of the 𝑭𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒆:
In our society, men are held to a higher standard of achievement. In order to be a successful provider, you must win, win, win.
👉🏼 Any sort of setback or failure is seen as a sign of weakness. 👈🏼
The sociological pressures to always be on top of your game can be exhausting to the point where you don’t even want to try.
If you don’t try, you can’t fail.
In addition to pressures of the world around you, there are the past traumas you have buried deep inside you.
That time you stepped up to bat, bases loaded with the bases loaded. 😰
You swung and missed. The crowd of parents behind you shouting “keep your eye on the ball!”
Your teammates, crying “come on Josh! Hit the ball!”
The wind up and the pitch. Fast ball.
❌ “Strike!” The ump calls out with a thunderous roar.
You hear grumbles from a few parents behind home plate. “They should have brought in a pinch-hitter.”
Your heart sinks. But you choke up on the bat and take your final stance.
Then you hear the ball hit the catcher’s glove and everything else goes silent.
Your arm goes limp and you drag the aluminum bat back to the dugout. 😔
The coach is silent and turns away so you don’t see his disappointment and you hear whispers from another boy, “I could have hit that. That was an easy one.”
“Yeah, he really sucks.”
30 years later and you think you’ve forgotten all about that disaster on the diamond. But without you knowing, this event played a significant role in your life.
Add all the other times big or small that brought you a sense of shame and BOOM, the Fear of Failure grew began to grow. 💣
It took over and prevented you from being the exceptional, successful, happy man you were meant to be.
This is one of the 𝗠𝗢𝗦𝗧 common fears among men, but it doesn’t have to be.
💪🏼 You can completely 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗘 the Fear of Failure from your life and create more success in your life.
